FIREWORKS LAUNCH SITE RETURNS TO TECHNY PRAIRIE PARK

Dear Northbrook Residents:
After an unsatisfactory 4th of July fireworks display in 2007, the fireworks launch site will return to Techny Prairie Park in 2008. The designated viewing area will be the Velodrome at Meadow Hill Park. In order to protect the new synthetic soccer field, the golf course and the Trail Through Time, the fireworks launch site was moved to Willow Hill last year. The increased distance adversely affected the sights and sounds of the display.

The 4TH of July Association thanks the Northbrook Park District for modifying the conditions to use the Techny Prairie Park to launch the 2008 fireworks. The Fire Department will provide additional protective measures to prevent damage to the soccer field.

And now for the best news… The 2008 Northbrook Fireworks promise to be the biggest and the best ever. In recognition of the community's disappointment with the 2007 fireworks, the Village of Northbrook has agreed to provide matching funds to the 4TH of July Association. These funds will be used to "pump up" the 2008 Fireworks Show. This is in addition to services provided by the Village from Police, Fire and Public Works.

These are matching funds, so the Association needs the continued support of Northbrook citizens, organizations and businesses. Please donate through mail-in contributions, with your water bill or online at www.northbrookjuly4th.org. Consider joining the 4TH of July Association. Our next meeting is on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 7:30PM in the Classroom of the Fire Department Building at 740 Dundee Road.
